World Bank: Action to Achieve Inclusive WASH
Project Overview
I worked remotely with the World Bank Group to adapt a 3+ month instructor-led water and sanitation course into a 90-minute self-paced training. The challenge was making comprehensive training accessible to field professionals who couldn’t commit to months of scheduled instruction. The final course, Taking action to achieve inclusive WASH, is open to anyone registered on UNICEF’s Agora digital learning platform.
The Work
I created an adaptation strategy that restructured the course into seven interactive modules. Working with stakeholders from UNICEF, the World Bank Group, and WaterAid, I storyboarded each module’s content and interactions to balance information delivery with active learning. The focus was on maintaining educational value while eliminating time and location barriers.
Using Adobe Creative Cloud and Articulate Rise, I built WCAG 2.1 AA-compliant modules that worked with screen readers, keyboard navigation, and different device sizes. Before launch, I coordinated user acceptance testing across different assistive technologies and platforms to identify and fix issues—particularly for mobile devices common in field settings.
Results
The course was published on UNICEF’s Agora platform with SCORM integration for learning analytics and progress tracking:
- 6,000+ global users (as of October 2023)
- 20% completion rate—double the typical MOOC average of ~10%
- 90 minutes of self-paced learning vs. 3+ months
